viharamahadevi park is the oldest and largest park in the Colombo. this park originally called Victoria Park but was renamed in the 1950s after the mother of king Dutugamunu. it’s maintained by the Colombo municipal council and the Colombo public library.
There used to be a cricket ground in the park, which was used for cricket between 1927 and 1995. The park features include a huge Buddha status and a series of water fountains. It also includes a mini zoo, a children’s play area, etc.
