
The Mirijjawila Botanical Garden in Hambantota is the first botanical garden in the dry zone of Sri Lanka. It covers an area of 300 acres and The main objective of establishing this Botanical Garden is to conserve the trees and shrubs in the dry zone. In addition, popularizing non-popular trees, promoting tourism and providing botanical knowledge to the younger generation are other objectives.
It consists of three tanks namely, Kohombagas Wewa, Mallithangas Wewa, and Ddemataththa wewa. In addition, the Botanical Garden contains a herbs garden, a model desert, an ornamental flowers garden and many more. You can also get tourist vehicles to visit around the botanical garden, as well as benches have been placed to get rid of tiredness. Today, many people visit this place and it has become one of the most places for photographers.
Mirijjawila Botanical Gardens is an ideal place for those who like to relax and enjoy a relaxing evening.
