
Arugam Bay beach, also known as Arumugam Kuda, is a bay in the Indian Ocean in the Dry Zone on the southeastern coast of Sri Lanka and is a quaint settlement in ancient Batticaloa (Mattakkallappu Desam). 4 km (2.5 mi) south of Pottuvil, a town (200 miles) and market town. Arugam Bay beach is one of the most popular surf destinations and the only international surf competition place in Sri Lanka. It is ranked as one of the 10 best surf destinations in the world. Since 2004 it has hosted many international surfing events in Sri Lanka. It also hosted the So Sri Lanka Pro 2019. Surfers can successfully hit the waves from May to November. This is the best time to visit the place.
