The Galle Fort (Dutch Fort) was built in the 16th century by the Portuguese on the southwestern coast of Sri Lanka. However, in the 17th century, the Dutch underwent major changes. It also has two large gates for entrance the Galle Fort. Today, the all ethnic of Galle Fort live in harmony. Visitors to the Galle Fort can see the Old Dutch Government House, the Dutch Hospital, the Meera Church built in 1904, the Clock Tower and the Lighthouse and the Museum, built in 1882. Also, there are hotels and nice little shops.
It is a perfect example of a strong city that blends European architecture and South Asian traditions. This is a wonderful paradise for those looking for a peaceful and fun holiday.
